Hi, I am Fiona Keane, the Community Health Worker for the Ballyvolane area. My role involves engaging with groups and providing access to community health initiatives which improve overall health and wellbeing in a fun and inclusive way.
We also provide health and wellbeing information, advocacy, signposting and a range of health workshops. Through ongoing engagement with our local community, we identify and respond to their health needs by offering the following:

Ballyvolane Fun Walking Group meet every Monday morning at 10am. A lovely relaxing walk ensured with good company and very interesting chats. Of course, the walk is followed by a nice cuppa and a fresh scone! We also participate in meet and mingle meet ups with other community walking groups.
The Over 55’s group started in October 2025 and has become a vibrant and active group. During the year the group paticipated in many fun activities, which include:
Little Bags of Hope, Mindfulness, Fun Bingo, Fun Dance, Wellness workshops, Personal Development, Shake and Fit, Flower Arranging, Fitness, Ceili Dance, Afternoon Tea, Day Trips


Singing for the Brain Ballyvolane
Singing for the Brain is a friendly and supportive social music group that brings people together through song, stories and smiles. Participants benefit greatly from the wellness aspect of singing, such as reduced stress and improved mood. No musical experience is necessary! The weekly sessions are run in blocks of 6. Our Widows group takes place every Tuesday 1.30 – 3.30 in our community room, at Glenfields Community Childcare.
This group is vibrant and welcoming, offering peer support and information.
Ballyvolane Mens Shed, Meelagh Park, is a community based project where local men can come together to learn, share skills and make long lasting friendships. Every Wednesday 10am. Looking for new members!
