Aims of Fermoy Community Health Project:

The Fermoy Walkie Talkies are a long-established community walking group, perfect for anyone who enjoys walking, chatting, and meeting new people.
We meet every Monday at 11:00 am (except on Bank Holidays). Our walks are relaxed, welcoming, and suitable for people who enjoy gentle to moderate exercise.
We are an open and inclusive group, welcoming people of all ages and abilities. There’s always someone to chat with along the way, and our walking routes are accessible for buggies. New members are always welcome.
We also take part in Meet & Mingle events, where we host and visit other community walking groups in their local areas. These enjoyable outings are a great opportunity to make new friends, enjoy the fresh air, take part in gentle exercise, and discover new walking routes across the region.

Our Singing for the Brain Fermoy has been running since 2017. Singing for the Brain is a friendly and supportive social music group that brings people together through songs, stories and smiles. Participants benefit greatly from the wellness aspects of singing, such as reduced stress and improved mood. No musical experience is necessary! The weekly session are run in Blocks of 5 or 6 weeks with a break in between. We take a summer break at the end of July until mid-September.
The summer of 2019 was very significant in the lives of the Singing for the Brain Fermoy participants as we celebrated the launch of our very first CD.
The summer of 2023 was another significant highlight in the lives of the group participants. The much anticipated Singing for the Brain Ireland Summer Jamboree was held in Cork. We gathered together for the very first time with other groups from across Cork City and County to share our love of music and singing.
The very popular Step it Up programme has been running in Fermoy since 2022. This programme is hosted by the Fermoy Community Health Project, and the session is facilitated by Shirley Lankford (NTC- National Qualification of exercise and health studies and Personal Training. Pilates Instructor). Our participants thoroughly enjoy these energetic and engaging fun movement sessions, which suit all levels of fitness.
We run this programme is blocks of 6 or 7 weeks in the Adair Hall Fermoy (located behind Christ Church). Places are limited so early booking advisable!

Christmas is a time to celebrate our blessings with family and friends, and also serves as a time to join together with them in remembering friends and loved ones who are sadly no longer with us. Fermoy Community Health Project in association with the Fermoy Community Resource Centre and the Fermoy Committee of Cork Mental Health invites you to use the ‘Lights of Love’ tree to remember your loved ones this Christmas.
The remembrance tree is located at the beautiful new courtyard of the Fermoy Community Garden in the grounds of Fermoy Community Resource Centre on McCurtain Street.
The ‘Lights of Love’ tree will be lit at a special community event in the Community Garden on second Sunday in December at 5pm.
All are welcome to attend the event, at which you may, if you wish, sponsor a light to remember your loved one by making a €5 donation. For your donation, you will receive a unique ‘Lights of Love’ Christmas remembrance card for each light sponsored, and you can also make a named dedication which will be placed in our special memory frame.
Refreshments will be served on the night to compliment the music and reflection. We hope the event will provide a warm space during the festive season to cherish the memories of our loved ones as the lights continually shine over the Christmas season and into the New Year.
If you would like more details on the event please contact Jacinta McCormack, Community Health Worker on 085 8742320 or email jacinta.mccormack@hse.ie
